This is one of my Valentine’s Day lego posts. While normal people are out fucking their significant others, I’m here doing this. It’s funner by leagues.
So, this is @notenoughapples‘ ponysona Apples, and @rosy-maple-monogram‘s ponysona Starstruck Symphony, being a cute couple together because Valentine’s Day. I don’t have much else flavor text for this one, so let’s get to my commentary on the builds, because I know you love that. Apples? Fucking amazing. I love this build, and think of it as one of my better ones, especially ironic considering I thought I’d fuck up his hair a lot. But hey, look at that, it’s good looking. I can’t very well say the same for the cutie mark, though. The complex ones really kill me, guys. At least it’s…viewable? If you looked at the original cutie mark first, anyways. Otherwise it looks like random shapes. The tail’s nice except for that little swirl, which I really wish I could make better. Without enough space, though, I wasn’t given much choice, but it’s not a bad little decal in the tail. And dude, that fucking jacket. I didn’t know how to tackle it, but look at it. It’s great.
As for Starstruck. Well Rosy, I don’t mean to hurt your feelings, but I don’t think I did too greatly on this one. The motto around here, though, is “if the creator’s happy, I did my job right”. That doesn’t mean I can’t complain about where I failed, though. I’d like to say that the limitations of lego shines brightly here. Due to the right shoulder and wing on Starstruck, I wasn’t able to even make the hair correctly. As you can see in that ref, Starstruck’s hair should be way longer. This is a flaw that I could not find any way around, so I’m going to probably cry myself to sleep tonight for not being able to fix it. Maybe Starstruck just got a haircut. As for the other parts that don’t give me aneurysms, the beanie’s…eh, it’s decent, I guess. Probably looks more like that hat Sportacus wears than anything, but it does its job. The tail looks good, and the cutie mark is something I’m pretty proud of, actually. Again, due to the limitations of lego, I had to improvise and make a smaller scaled butterfly. What came out was pretty good. Maybe that’ll reduce a few tears.
Anyways, happy Valentine’s Day, Apples and Rosy. Have fun and don’t get hurt you crazy kids.
We did it, babe. We’re finally lego.
